The mission of the J. Walter Cameron Center serves to incubate, support, and accelerate social good in our community.
The Cameron Center is a place where people come to get the support and services they need to grow, thrive and reach their full potential.
Honoring J. Walter Cameron’s Legacy
J. Walter Cameron was more than a visionary businessman—he was a man of deep compassion and commitment to the people of Maui. While his contributions to media, agriculture, and business helped shape the island’s economy, his greatest legacy is the J. Walter Cameron Center.
In the late 1950s, Mr. Cameron saw the struggles faced by families with disabled members and dreamed of a place where essential services could be housed under one roof—a groundbreaking idea at the time. Despite skepticism, he remained steadfast, investing the first $10,000 for a feasibility study and spending 25 years advocating for its realization.
Executive Director’s message
For over 50 years, the Cameron Center has been a place of hope. We are proud to house 24 nonprofit and social service agencies providing essential health, education, and human services to over 65,000 people each year. We honor the vision of our founders and the ongoing commitment of those who believe in our mission—to empower people, strengthen families, and build a healthier Maui Nui.
I invite you to take a tour of our campus and learn more about the Cameron Center and the impact we make on the lives of our Maui ‘ohana every day. On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers we thank you for your continued support through donations and participation
